The pull of everyday life often overwhelms body, mind, and spirit. Daily demands create distraction and distance from the heart’s desires and a spiritual imbalance in contemporary life.
We are often thirsty for spaciousness to reconnect with God’s indwelling presence. We long to pursue our personal hopes and dreams.
Restore your focus and vitality. Deepen your connection with Divine Presence.
Seven Sacred Practices for a Recollected Life is a seven-part, online, independent study course created to help you to remember and reconnect with your spiritual and creative center. Each of the seven life-giving Illuminations (lessons) is a two-part invitation to more deeply explore a Sacred Practice in order to inspire, nourish, and recollect your fragmented body, mind, and spirit.
This course is for you if you feel:
- pulled away from your center by daily demands
- distracted and unable to tend your heart’s longings and desires
- thirsty for spiritual and creative sustenance
- overwhelmed by your “to do” list
- unable to find time for yourself
- disconnected from God
- depleted and burned-out
The Belle Coeur Sacred Practice Toolkit is a perfect addition to your self-study course. Most of us move from one task to the next with little time for reflection, contemplation, and stillness. Two feminine archetypes, Mary, the contemplative and Martha, the achiever, clamor within us for equal time and attention. Meanwhile, the rapid pace of interaction with the virtual world and the pull of real-time responsibilities creates feelings of fragmentation, depletion, and futility.
In this frenzied state, we forget who we are, where we came from, and why we are here. In other words, we lose connection with the Source, the Beloved at the center of all life, and the relationship to our Highest Selves.
In the midst of our human longing to reconnect with God’s infinite love and guidance and the authentic Self, there is an invitation. Awaiting our attention is the numinous call to begin a personal journey of remembrance through the exploration of spiritual, creative, and intellectual practices. The intention is to recollect – or "re-collect" – and recall the essential fragments of Self and a desired quality of life.
When the various facets of life are recollected, the result is a return of balance between “doing and being.” Recollection, therefore, creates a healthy relationship between your inner Mary and Martha, restores your focus and vitality, and deepens your connection with the Divine Presence.

Sister Sibyl Dana Reynolds – California
In my heart of hearts, I’m a monastic and contemplative. The home I share with my husband is my sanctuary. Flickering candles, the smoky scent of incense, and the sound of Gregorian chant quicken my senses. Nostalgia and melancholia feed my writer’s spirit. I put pen to paper and await the story. Prayer is a river running through each day. I dwell in the Mystery while I ache to inhabit and know the ancient time and place that lives within a memory, hidden deep inside my bones.
As the founder of the Sisters of Belle Coeur, I am inspired by the sacred wisdom within women’s stories and the blessings of sisterhood. Christ, the Beloved, is at the center of my life, my compass, and True North. Sacrament and Scripture feed my soul. I draw sustenance from the writings of the early feminine saints and mystics such as; St. Hildegard of Bingen, St. Teresa of Avila, and the Beguine, Mechtild of Magdeburg. My family is my wellspring of joy. My beloved, my children and granddaughter are life’s greatest teachers. I believe the times we are living in are calling forth the return of the Divine Feminine. The Spirit invites us to create a living legacy of women’s stories expressed through the sacred life-arts. My intention through my work is to serve as a midwife for our planet’s rebirthing. I can imagine no greater privilege.
